What’s not to love about Green Roofs!

We LOVE green roofs at Cradle Design!

What’s not to love about them; they provide environmental, economic, and aesthetic advantages, making them a sustainable choice for any conscientious design professional.

So let’s take a closer look at the multiple benefits of green roofs and why we should give them greater consideration when designing our built environment:

  • Green roofs absorb rainwater. The plants and substrate retain water, reducing run-off and help to manage stormwater.

  • The plants in the green roof contribute to cleaner air by filtering pollutants and capturing dust particles. The vegetation helps improve the overall air quality in urban areas.

  • Green roofs are an excellent insulator and can significantly reduce the energy needed to utlise the temperatures during summer.

  • Urban greening promotes an effective and easy strategy in beautifying the built environment. Not only does it provide a habitat for plants, insects and birds, they also create pockets of green space.

I could go on, energy saving, fire retardant and a whole lot more… so why not consider a green roof for your next project, green and sustainably beneficial, gotta love it!
