What’s not to love about Green Roofs!
We LOVE green roofs at Cradle Design!
What’s not to love about them; they provide environmental, economic, and aesthetic advantages, making them a sustainable choice for any conscientious design professional.
So let’s take a closer look at the multiple benefits of green roofs and why we should give them greater consideration when designing our built environment:
Green roofs absorb rainwater. The plants and substrate retain water, reducing run-off and help to manage stormwater.
The plants in the green roof contribute to cleaner air by filtering pollutants and capturing dust particles. The vegetation helps improve the overall air quality in urban areas.
Green roofs are an excellent insulator and can significantly reduce the energy needed to utlise the temperatures during summer.
Urban greening promotes an effective and easy strategy in beautifying the built environment. Not only does it provide a habitat for plants, insects and birds, they also create pockets of green space.
I could go on, energy saving, fire retardant and a whole lot more… so why not consider a green roof for your next project, green and sustainably beneficial, gotta love it!
