Workplace Interior Architecture and Design – Sydney – 2530 sqm

Cradle partnered with project managers Renacent to deliver this single floor fit-out, located adjacent to Sydney’s Central Station. The freshly refurbed base building design was used to full effect and enhanced the new office layout. The interior architecture of the floor was designed to give an industrial feel. Exposed ceilings showed off concrete slabs, cable trays & air-conditioning ducting allowing the end user to enjoy what was traditionally hidden away.

The exposed ceilings did provide challenges such as acoustic performance of the open-plan work areas and acoustic privacy to meeting rooms and offices. Acoustic ceiling panels were carefully placed on the concrete slabs in the open-plan areas, to ensure the spaces didn’t get too noisy. Slab to slab partitions were incorporated in most built areas, with openings for services in and out of these rooms carefully sealed to ensure acoustic privacy within. Acoustic light shades were also placed over casual meet tables in corridors and around the central collaborative breakout space.

Natural finishes & tones were chosen to complement the interior architecture and neutral base building. Floor finishes such as timber vinyl planks & varying carpet colours were used to define zones such as collaborative areas, meeting rooms, circulation spaces and work areas throughout the large floor plate. Considered placement of plant walls further grounded the space and spoke to the natural palate.

A central collaborative breakout space was incorporated into the corporate office design for complete flexibility, thus allowing the end user to function, meet & present in numerous settings. This space also functions as the primary breakout space with a large white kitchen to one end, which facilitates larger staff events, day to day meetings and one on ones.
